Recently, a business person called and requested an unarmed, uniformed security officer to stand in front of their building for several days, following the termination of an employee.

We do not provide uniformed services and $8 an hour "guards."

Prior to the termination we would visit the building, determine points of egress, where the termination would take place, etc.

A thorough threat assessment would be conducted prior to the firing and we would probably recommend several plainclothes Agents be present.  The suspect would be advised that under South Carolina Title and Code, Agents have the same authority as a deputy sheriff on the client's property.

My Agents include retired FBI Agents, two of whom worked with HRT, (Hostage Rescue Team).

I advise my clients that an unarmed, uniformed "guard" would likely be the first but not the last casualty in a body count if the employee elected to respond in a violent fashion.

Clients are also advised that the term, "unarmed security" is an oxymoron.

FYI is a continuing series of items of interest to the profession.  Comments, opinions and suggestions are appreciated as long as civility is maintained.
